ADOLPHE MOURON CASSANDRE (1901-1968)

[HERMÈS SILK SCARF]. 1951.

35x34 inches, 89x86¼ cm.
Condition A / A-: small unobtrusive stain spots; folds and creases.

In 1951, Hermès commissioned Cassandre to create a design for their world-famous silk scarves. Produced using at least five different colors, the Escher-esque architectural construction demonstrates a sophisticated play on perspective. Some of the color variants include clouds showing through the structure.
